Akersloot is a small village in the municipality of Castricum it may be known to many people because of Hotel Van der Valk on the A9 . Since the hotel opened in 1982, it has been a destination for meetings, luxury nights out and since autumn 2018 also for casino visitors. The combination of Van der Valk hotels and Jack's casinos can be found in several places in New Zealand, but this Akerslootse establishment certainly catches the eye.
In addition to the hotel and casino, Akersloot is mainly a small village with about 5,000 inhabitants. Not surprisingly, there are no other casinos besides the Jack's Casino on the highway. Castricum, a village a little further, has another casino.
