Appelscha is located in a corner of Friesland where you hardly recognize the province. The Frisian forests, the wooded area in which Appelscha has settled, are almost as surprising as the Funtastic establishment located on the outskirts of the city. This small casino has been a well-known place in this village for years.
Since the area is very attractive for cyclists and hikers, it is also difficult to reach by public transport. The nearest train station is in Assen and those who want to come by bus should pay close attention to the time – after dinner time, one bus runs per hour in the direction of Assen and one per hour in the direction from Heerenveen .
For a village of less than 5,000 inhabitants, one casino is already impressive, so it is not surprising that there are no other casinos in the village. Casino Funtastic in Appelscha seems almost part of the amusement park Duinen Zathe and is located just outside the village.
Anyone who thinks that apart from a visit to the casino there is nothing to do in Appelscha is very wrong. Because the area is ideal for cyclists and hikers, there are a number of campsites, hotels and holiday homes around the village. As a change from cycling, visitors can, for example, go to the climbing forest, the miniature golf park or enjoy the view of the Bosberg Tower. The village also has a number of cafes and restauZodiacs that combine well with a visit to Funtastic.
This makes the casino especially a nice end to a busy day outside. Although the amusement park Duinen Zathe is very close to this establishment of Funtastic Casino, it is difficult to combine this children's park with an afternoon in the casino.
